Inter-School Christian Fellowship 2010

Inter-school CF will be held on the 30th of January, which is a Saturday. This event is about building a stronger relationship with Jesus. Christian secondary student are encouraged to come. In fact, all Christian students should join the CF in their school (as there are CF Clubs in almost all the schools) to meet together with the Christians in your school which is a good start to reach out to other students in your school. Ever since I joined CF, people have kept on asking me, “What is CF?” Though that is not exactly a sign of curiosity for my faith, it may be an opening for sharing the gospel. Another thing is that every Christian should have a bible and regularly read it. I do sometimes procrastinate when I should read the bible even though I know it’s wrong, but it still should be a regular habit for everyone.

Anyway, back to the Inter-school CF.
Here are the particulars:

Date: 30 January 2010
Time: (yet to be known)
Venue: St Paul’s Secondary School, Seremban
Fee: RM 4, inclusive of lunch
Attire: Your school’s CF shirt or a shirt that has the same color as it with jeans/pants.

Everyone is invited, including non-Christians. Hope to see you there!

On the first Sunday of 2010 all the new Form 2 youths were called up and were prayed for in church. However, I was still in my hometown, singing in another church. So, they called my parents and told them. HE is everywhere.

Actually, this isn’t something very important. It’s just a sign that I have completed my Sunday school days and from then on I will be listening to the pastor in the sanctuary. So, on the 10th of January 2010 (the second Sunday), I didn’t head straight for the Sunday school classroom. I had brought my pen and notebook to record down the pastor’s sermon. That day, the topic was based on the Church Theme, “Behold His Wonders, Declare His Glory”. It was “His Name Is Wonderful”. Basically, the topics for these few weeks will be about God’s different names. The passage was Isaiah 9:2-7. That Sunday, it was on 4 names of Jesus: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.

It was quite an interesting sermon, with the pastor cracking a few jokes here and there. Tomorrow’s topic would be “His Name Is Jehovah Rohi, The Lord Is My Shepherd”. Interested? Come over to my church to here about it.

ENGLISH SERVICE (SUNDAY)
1st service: 8.00-9.30 p.m.
2nd service: 10.00-11.30 p.m.
Venue: Tabernacle of Worship, No. 887, Jalan Belimbing 5, Taman Starlight Park, 70100 Seremban.

I think you will enjoy it.

New Year Resolution 2010

I know it is quite late for a resolution. I have been trying to find time to write earlier in the week but to no avail. But this year's resolution will be a short one. Short and simple.

Well, my resolution's main theme is simply to be a more sociable person. What I mean is, I want to get along with people better. Last year, I had gotten on a few people's nerves. So, now I ask for forgiveness from anyone who I have wronged. And I forgive anyone who has done anything bad to me. I promise to try my best to be more polite and smile even when under pressure. Please support me as I do that. But I am also very grateful for the people around me. My friends, my family, my leaders etc.etc.

Well, that's about all. This year, I don't want my resolution to be too hard so that I can fulfill it. Go go go!

Prayer and Fasting Emphasis Week

Starting from today, my church will be fasting and praying until next Sunday (11-17 January 2010).

Actually my family has already been fasting (dinner) since New Year’s Day. Well, not exactly. We take supper sometimes.

Anyway, this post is to tell you that you can fast along with us. You can fast dinner or lunch, breakfast or fast from meat, too! Come, pray for our country, yourself, your family or anything on your mind! Remember, the Bible says that if 2 or 3 are gathered in God’s name he is there. But if you are alone, he will also be there. Malaysia needs our prayers, especially after the church burning recently. Pray that God will turn things around and use this to bless His people and bring people to search for Him. I personally, think that the arson case is a blessing is disguise. The church gets some money for their new building and people come to help the church, this is a very good opportunity to spread the Word of God.

Just a Thought

Somewhere last year, I read about something interesting in my devotion. The verse to read was 2 Corinthians 8 : 14-15. The verse read:
At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality, 15 as it is written:
“He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little.”

The text told about a man named Keith Taylor who once was given a gift of $525 from a generous person when he had not enough money to fix his car. Now, he runs modestneeds.com, a website that helps people bridge small financial gaps. Amazingly, 70% of those who are helped come back to donate.

So, just like the verse and Keith, we should learn to give more and God will bless us. Of course, giving eagerly does not mean giving until our bank accounts are empty. Paul says in Corinthians 8:12, “I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves.” . Giving could also be giving your time, love etc.

So, think about it.

Missing December and Christmas

I know this sounds crazy and I shouldn't be saying this when so many things are happening around me, like I am selfish and have not a care for others. But I really do miss the holidays and all they brought to me. And writing essays on them in school doesn't help.

As you should already know, school has started. In fact, the first week of school has passed. Some of you from my school might have noticed me standing at the side of the assembly gathering place during assembly- doing prefect duty. Last year, I was shocked to be called to stand up in class and told that I was chosen to be a prefect. I was literally speechless and my eyes were bigger than fish balls. I really didn't expect to be chosen because I kinda been talkative earlier in the year. Alright, I do finish my homework on time and get good results but I thought that they choose you based on your attitude more than results. I did get into a few tight spots with teachers last year so I thought I will be an ordinary student ALL my life. In primary school I had no experience of leadership as a prefect, monitor etc. etc. Of course, I wanted to be a leader, but I knew I don't really have much potential though my temperament(choleric, but I can be sanguine or phlegmatic) suits that position. So, well, please don't look at me and think that I am a hypocrite, I just can't help having fun and prefect duty doesn't really allow that though they say that we should enjoy our work. Now, I'm getting a lot of tension, but not more than PMR or SPM students. On the other hand, being a prefect might make me more mature.

Okay, enough of my musings. I believe 2010 will bring new surprises and blessings. Amen to that!

Blessings For The New Year

About 9 hours ago, the clocked struck twelve times, signalling the coming of the new year. People were celebrating outside, but Christians were in church, praying for God's guidance in the new year. We never would have made it to a new year without God. So, in order for this new year to be a meaningful one, we must pray for God's control over it. I pray that God will keep you safe and that this year we will continue to grow in the Lord. And for those that haven't accepted him, I ask of you a favor. Please go and seek this God. Give him a chance and let Him enter your heart and transform your life, he will always be waiting. I have heard and seen people's life being changed through Him and I believe that when you cry out to Him, He will change your life for the better. Here is a new year prayer I found on the net, may this year be a meaningful one to you:

Lord, as a New Year begins
We come to you and ask for your
blessing
We pray that you would give us
joy to fill our days
And
peace to fill our hearts and love to fill our lives.
Thank you for the plans you have for us in the New Year.

Thanking God for you and praying your new year is blessed in every way.
