12 more days

School reopening soon D:

Q: What do next year's Form 1s and this coin have in common?

Next week is Christmas. Two weeks till school reopens and a month to Chinese New Year. (:
I'm back already on the 16th. Just too tired to blog. Sorry |:

Currently? Enjoying my holidays. Preparing for school. Training for volleyball competition in January-February. Looking forward to Christmas. Missing friends...
Brother and sister coming back from Uni to bully me.

Anyways, congratulations all PMR students, you have done it, you're officially Form 4. For those that got straight As, congratz! Those that didn't get A for chinese, that's normal, so congratz! Those who are not happy with your results, well, no point crying over this exam. You can make up for your PMR results by doing well in SPM. Life is short, play more.

Bye for now (:

A: They both are born in 2000.

Ministry

Standing under the noon sun's heat
Feeling the rocky boat under my feet
Pulling the empty nets back from the water
The fish getting fewer the work getting harder
The weather above was the reflection of my feelings
Of the dread I felt of returning with nothing

The noisy crowd that walked along the beach
Went unnoticed by my brother and me
But to our ears a voice reached
Calling us "fisherman of the sea!"
It was the man they called the Messiah
The promised one that John talked about
Immediately we felt inside us a fire
As our hopes rose he called out

"Come and follow me, Andrew and Simon
"From now on you'll be fishers of men."

~of the calling of the first disciples~

*Poor attempt at a poem. I'm not really good. The only thing I like is to rhyme them. Rarely read Shakespearean literature. So, anyway, my first poem, I think. Yup, this is the reason I took so long to update. And my tendency to procrastinate...  (:

Sweet Slime

Holidays are near, yay(: Precious time to study ;)

I'm joking, I'm not crazy about studying, but it's time to accept the fact that next year is SPM for me just as it is for my seniors today. Nothing much's happenning. I'm bored and willing to accept any challenge or outing invitations...please? T&C apply of course.

Currently hooked to T-Swift songs. For some reason.

Essay:

I knew it was midnight because my stomach was growling with a special tune. I peeked from my little muddy hole and looked out into the confusing danger humans call the city. So I scrambled along on all fours carefully, confident of my invisibility. If you were a smart, sharp rat like me, you would never get caught by cats. They are the ones that stink not us. Flavours of food drifted through the air, searching for my nostrils. I was trapped, the temptation was too great. Italian, it is. I climbed on through the pipe that I very well knew zigzagged to the best spaghetti sauce in town. The silly humans had left the bowls of stew unattended too. I gulped some and sprang back into the shadows, knowing very well the dangers of getting carried away. Then, I saw it. The rows of plates full of spaghetti. Meatballs, sauce and all. They seemed to have been arranged all nicely on one long table...for me? I didn't stop to think. The next thing I knew I was swimming in warm sauce and nibbling at the giant meatballs. My muscles suddenly froze and my hair stood on end. I blinked and something struck me. The world became fuzzy and the last thing I saw was the pair of human eyes staring at me.

Sorry, that was quite a poor essay. I was just doing some practice. : /

Shanghai Souvenir

Some silly essay (: Finals are over by the way C:

The pair of torn shoes was all I managed to dig up from the rubble of the 5.7 magnitude earthquake that struck southern China. I had been screaming and yelling for my friend, scrambling and searching high and low among that heap of rubble. It had to be a dream. But I could feel tears stinging my scratched cheeks. It was the 7th of September. It was the day I found a new meaning to reality. The cold hard kind. The kind that leaves hearts broken and spines frozen. And the sound of my friend's screams of terror that got lost in the echoes were still ringing in my ear. But I felt a rhythm to the noise, as the sounds around me mixed with the sounds in my head. The honking in the distance was the beat and the howling wind was the bass. The rain falling on my soaked tees was the percussion. My fingers scratching against the rock, wood and metal was the guitar and piano. The lead voice was...that yell for help. It was terrible composition but the a sorrowful one too. I knew my friend was gone, lost in the dreams of dreams. I lost my friend once before and I 'll lose my friend again. I can imagine a dagger going through that already cello-taped heart. But I still searched in that rubble as my hands heeded my heart's instructions instead of my brain's. Well I'll take home the shoe as a souvenir, it is after all another memory of my friend.

Drama above sucks right? Well, the idea came from a mixture of old news, new news, personal experience and a whole lot of crapping ability. But that's what my English teacher wants, and she'll give good grades to an essay of this kind(maybe slightly better and a whole lot longer la). Well, maybe it is sometimes good to be mesmerized once in a while by suspense, drama and dreams.

Enjoying my F4 life (: Heard that school will be streaming classes next year ):  All the best SPM-ers. Now go study C:

Milky Tea

As the feel of grass leaves the sole
Blackness ahead and chills so cold
The hours pass like shifting clouds
Pen scratches on paper silent yet loud
Now time to turn a page.

Happy September…and belated merdeka day!
Sin Hua pupils walk the streets a day before Merdeka, waving flags.

The hard part of the year has arrived. So the dramatic poem above is dedicated to this crazy month. I feel a bit worried because Finals are just two weeks away. (and I haven’t started nothing...as usual) So it’s frustrating when you keep getting distracted by some (Korean) songs when you know you need to study.

SPM trials start today and I ‘wish’ Form 5 students all the best and God bless. PMR is coming soon, too. Frankly, I miss Form 3 life now more than ever. Form 4 is really great but it’s harder to enjoy than Form 3. Anyway, All the best Form 3s.

bye hannah!

My sister has entered uni, in fact just a day ago. I’ll miss her, partially because I’ll have to do more work and take more responsibility without her. (approx. 1.5 times more than present lol) ;)

Cousin Lisa got married with Reuben on Merdeka Day (:
Congratz to my very much older cousin Lisa upon getting married! The church wedding was really nice and smooth going. The wedding dinner was really great, thankfully the singers were good though loud. But who am I to comment? Best wishes to this happy couple.

And it’s time to ends this boring post and return to the amazingly wonderful dark world of Nabi Muhammad, anaerobic respiration and Bernoulli’s Principle. (:

Assuming Quests

Another Annoying Essay cause exams are over...
It's annoying when someone asks a question assuming you know what he means but you actually don't or assuming you have done something he thinks he has asked you to do but when actually he hasn't. It's hard to explain. Maybe next time this happens to you, you should give a go at putting yourselves in their shoes. Maybe try it sometime.

It's possible that people who seem to be assuming are actually asking 2 questions at once. Let me explain. If, hypothetically speaking Harry wasn't sure if Mrs. Weasley would be fetching him from the King Cross Station, and at the same time he isn't sure what time Mrs. Weasley would fetch him, then he could ask two questions at once by asking Mrs. Molly, "What time are you fetching me?" Isn't it like grammar, joining two simple questions to form a compound question?

The problem then is the answer. If Mrs. Weasley replies "5 a.m." then both Harry's questions would be answered! Short, neat and sweet! Harry would have saved precious seconds for sleeping. If the answer is "Who told you I was fetching you home?", is would be a mess.

But there are a few rules to follow to reduce the risks of a messy situation. First you need a rather cheerful and understanding person who didn't just come out of an examination hall like Mrs. Weasley. Second, you need hints that support your question such as a knowledge that Harry would be spending the Christmas holidays at the Weasley's. Third, it is necessary to prepare a backup line like "I meant Mr Weasley told you to fetch me when I arrive at King's Cross Station." Fourth, make sure you have done the previous three then only proceed to execute your plan as convincingly as possible. All the best!

Sometimes simple, polite and uncomplicated questions are really good conversation starters. So take it slow and simple, cause I am not making sense.

Already?

Gandalf (:
Really not free most of the time now. Extra homework from teachers and the constant pull in my stomach-to study. I'm about half-way saying goodbye to my As. The exam is just 4 days away.
Tomorrow's the BK Oral Quiz and I've only done the first of 52 chapters, let's hope the other's won't find out. My problem was probably distractions(like blogging) and the piles of homework but more of my procrastination and laziness. Please have mercy with me teachers...

Chosed as treasurer for CF, which means I've also been handling the tickets for CF lunch (it's on 10 Aug; 1245-1430;RM 13(students)/15(others)), which sucks cause I've never had experience at such a high post before. I'm very immature remember?
Assis. Treasurer for volleyball...some said that I actually got President but Pn. Chuan(the teacher advisor) said something about choosing the right person and responsibility so on the second time a form 3 guy got higher votes (later teacher told me that if I had participated more she would have made me Pres.). LOL, lucky me. I'm serious.
I never thought I could have taken the post. Later on I was voted for every post (shows how many eligible form 4s there are)...hopefully more people can join volleyball club. Currently looking for some teammates for next year's volleyball competition...anyone interested?

Comes July

Lying on top of the gajet.
The 13th Scouts campfire of Bukit Mewah was organized last Saturday, the 30th of June. Another thrilling success (: Plus the amazing gajet, even though it was finished almost at the last minute.
Met Jeremy!
The backdrop. From Chai Kai Qi's album.

And through the joy and fun of the night, it was hard to notice that the month was almost over.

It's July already. More exams, competitions--the second half of the year. June is one of my best times of the year.
Cf Camp, exams, birthdays and the holidays.

Report Card day today. Teacher said I was a very gooooooooooooood quite talkative but okay student.

Tomorrow's volleyball inter-class competition. Hopefully my amateur team can  make the finals. After all, it's all about teamwork(: Wish us luck = |
cousins and relatives coming to visit from overseas. Which means more people more food.

Heard the exams are on the 7th Aug if I'm not wrong.

Biopoji

Biology teacher seems to think we all gossp about her. Which is quite true. This is however my first attempt.

I visualize her like this.

-

asked my dad whether I could have a phone
he told i had to be 18
asked my dad whether I could have a basketball hoop
he told me there wasn't space for one
asked my mom whether I could have a little sister
she told me it was too late
asked my mom whether i could rear a dog
she told me it was too much trouble

wishes wishes
reasons reasons
never thought it was so complicated

dreams and fancies
discipline and philosophy
never thought i'll understand it

delayed gratifiation a lesson i haven't quite learnt
denying temptation something hard to discern
help in troubles blessings quite subtle
what could all of this mean

Staring

at the book and rereading the same sentence again and again.

The mid-term examination is near and I haven't started to study. Sums everything up doesn't it? Sounds much worst than PMR. History test covers 6 chapters, there are more essays than ever. And why am I still unable to finish the homework. Might have something to do with

Patience

Won't be free for 3 weeks from now. History is coming D:

Left

The fourth month of the year is for me laden with friend's birthdays. Just yesterday was Yap's and today is another one too. From all the news feed on fb I guess the kawad team won at last. Congratz. Well, Ah Yap might have got a special birthday present. Sweet sixteens....are short as they are sweet.

Been doing nothing on this blog for some time. No inspiration at all. I remember reading in an essay book(surprise! it was a Chinese one)that good essays are born from seeds of the heart. No one can be pleased with their writings when it is merely done for the sake of it.
Speaking of essays, I feel that if only I have a wider vocabulary, I could write in Chinese as good as I do in English...which is pretty much the problem that many face. Just trying to say that I'm failing at every chinese homework the teacher's giving. I hate Chinese! Just some silly strokes, right? Yet I'm taking it. Yea, that's how crazy I must have been. But it comes alive when you have a good teacher. So, I'm still not regretting taking this subject yet.
Stabbed my finger for Bio experiment that day. And the drops that flowed were like friggin little. Horrified when someone said that ants were attracted to my blood. What I'm diabetic now? And I started watching my sugar take-in. Taking less desserts now :)
Took my battered footballs for a spin today. Really got to thank my friends who are devoted footie fanatics. Just one game with them and I got back my interest in the game I first loved. But those handball school team people had to destroy the moment....well.

well, that's pretty much of the silly things that I have done since the last time I blogged. Still hoping for some vertical blessings on my miniature body. Still keeping the faith alive. Justin, nice blog you have there going at justinrandoms.blogspot.com By the way, sorry for not coming for your church's easter performance. Heard it was great as always.
And please pray for Indonesia and the countries surrounding it.

Tantrums

She started to whine, fidgeted, and thumped the table. He looked at her with a knowing look. A tantrum. Her brother standing at the side watched with interest but remained silent. And I....pretended not to notice. I expected the worst. But her father just gently swooped her into his arms, ignoring the flailing fists. He smiled and started to chuckle. He gently kissed her forehead and tried to calm her down.....soon the cheerful little girl was back.

Tantrums. How do we deal with them?
Some ignore it, letting the embers slowly fade out. Some harshly stamp it out with scoldings and the rod. Some,    and these are the ones I admire, use sweet and kind words to talk sense and love into the child and gently cool the heat. Some, give in to the child's demands, hoping their child will always stay happy.

I'm not writing to say who is right or wrong. I've no right. For each person has a way they see best to deal with their own child. The only point I want to make is whatever you do, your mark will be forever be imprinted on the child. The child grows to into a person molded by how you taught him or her.

But my views are pretty much weak. Let the experienced triumph. (:

By the way, holidays are over. Ain't that sweeeeeeebittereeeeeeeeet? :)

School as I know it

It's like running on a treadmill....running continuously just to stay on board, but never advancing.

School is in full swing. The teaching has started to get more faster. Homework has started piling up. Life as a student in 2012 has just got busy. Well those are the reasons why I haven't been updating this blog so guess there's a bit of dust here and there.
So....recent events. I'm back in Ixora permanently. Mike exchanged with me and I consented to once again lift my butt to the smarty class. And then the next day along came the counselor who told us to change back. There was an eruption of retorts and a debate ensued between the student "victims" and the counselor+PK2 team of "troublesome people". Actually, according to Cik Koh (PK2), she was on our side, but the problem was that the principle had something else in mind. Both sides were correct but which suggestion would be applied? Here's the situation: when I and many other students exchanged classes, the number of students in the Mawar class became few-30 plus. So the HM wasn't satisfied at the arrangement, and wanted us to shift back to the earlier arrangements. But then the student "victims" suggested that only those that came out of mawar class should be reshuffled back. Well, since so many people were already complaining, I didn't bother to add to the heated debate. Some students were making silly comments to the counselor which I thought was unnecessary. So I just started a "everyday reshuffling" theme song for the Form 4. Most confusing indeed.

Well in the end, we remained in our classes except for some exchanged mawarians who I think were reshuffled back to mawar. The rest of the events that happened after that eluded my senses. Ixora is definitely more stressful than Kenanga. the first sentence describes how I struggle to just keep up with the work and fail to keep ahead of the teachers. I know that isn't necessary but this year I resolved to stop doing last minute studies. So much for determination. Maybe should have gone to mawar haha.

Anyway on a happier note, the SBM boys under-18 volleyball team won the district level championships. Huat AH!!! I went along just to gain some experience (that's what Pn. Chuan asked me to go for), know my standard and give some support. As a "by-product", I got to get a break from studies. Well, I managed to experience two games as a linesman, which is actually more of a VIP seat in the midst of all the action than a job. Man, being so close to the action makes me wanna smack the opponents nicely. HUAT ah! This year we were the only all-chinese team. So are we the only team that doesn't use head, or legs but purely hands to return the ball. Proud to say we brought some standard to the tournament. Congratz guys. Under-15 boys and girls, doesn't matter that you loss, at least you gained some experience. Under-18 girls, so sorry you all didn't make it but you fought till the end-really played like champions but sadly mistakes pulled the score down.

We sang this song all the way back.

Well, Happy CNY. I've got some homework to catch up on. No, LOADS..
And then there's march exams coming....enjoy the CNY holidays friends!
Random stuff: this year's form 4 sketch is going to be crazy. Soon Jing and the gang can make anything crazy. :D
Ha-Ciew. :)

Sandwiched

Grasp what you have that is important, hold on to the little that keeps you together , for they won't last.

Form Four life has started and is gonna get into full swing. The first headache for me was which class to choose- ixora or kenanga. I had friends in both classes. One had stress. One had distractions.(apparently) Chose Ixora in the end to stay with some close friends. Pretty shocked at the numbers taking accounts class. Separated from a few friends again.

Two days later, they reshuffled the classes. Reasons? Not really sure but one reason might possibly be because some friends' parents went to talk to the counselor. Plus, the number of students in the science stream was overwhelming. What does that mean? Our year just did too good in PMR??
Well, that really confused all of us. We were already drawing the organisation table and getting things organised so now we've got to just burn those papers. But it wasn't as bad for us as those who got pushed to classes which had different teachers. The workbooks, homework-nothing. It's freakish.
I was put in Kenanga, only straight As were put in Ixora (some were pushed from Kenanga to equalise number of boys and girls), they opened a new science class-4 Melur and plenty of people got reshuffled into new classes. Well, this order is fine with me(equalizing the number of boys and girls, making sure there is a mix of races in the classes, making sure there isn't too many or too little students in one class) but I think they should have at least made up their minds to do this straight away when school started. Look at this mess, it's not worth it. Well, at least some people got to stay in their gangs for two sunlit days (:

So I'm a Kenangan. It I were born a year earlier this would have meant I'm taking Chinese. But unfortunately or fortunately, I am taking that nemesis of mine as a subject. I would have never thought of doing this if it weren't for PMR. Well, somewhere along the way when I was studying for this dreaded subject, I developed a kinda interest for it. So, I'll take the risk. I'm willing to finish SPM later than most people by one subject...haha. But if the time comes when I can't understand a single syllable coming from the lao shi's mouth, I'm getting out of that class.

Nothing much now. Happy CNY people. Enjoy school.

一步一步向前走,慢慢走到校门口

translation of title: walking forward one step at a time, walking slowly to the school gates. (it's a famous line I learnt in primary school)

Schools around the corner, so is tons of homework, stress exams and holidays. Did I mention tuition. Welcome to 2012 school life.

here we come to the threshold that all must take,
the attitude you have is the difference you make.

Well, this sucks. but can't turn back time can't you? gonna have t take it like a boss ain't you?
 Happy New Year.
