From what I have seen and heard, I think many salesmen today are good liars. I mean no insult. But unfortunately, I have seen several salesmen giving talks or coming up to you, just to make their product SEEM better than what it really is. I'm sure many of you are no stranger to this kind of advertising.
If you would weigh these two odds together- selling things and advertising them for they really are and getting few customers who are still satisfied OR exaggerating the quality of your products and getting lots of unsatisfied customers- in the long run, wouldn't the former succeed more than the latter even though the latter would start out better? So, I feel all these dishonest salesmen are only worried about the present. You have to consider the future sales, too.
Anyway, I'm nothing close to a working person let alone a successful professional so my views are just from my point of view. However, I believe most customers would look at the integrity of a salesmen, therefore it is important to be honest in business and in life. I know that because many wise consumers tend to test the salesmen if he is telling the truth i.e. if anything he says contradict another thing he or his partner says, so that they know they are getting their money's worth.
Gasp*, enough of the thinking stuff. The conclusion is when I go applying for jobs after I graduate, I don't think "advertising" or "salesmen" would be on my list of jobs to apply for. However, I am definitely not discouraging anyone interested in this sector. I never said that ALL salesmen are dishonest. But my views are this: it is not as good to work alongside dishonest men as working with people you can trust. Do you agree or not?
It is up to you. Still, the world needs all kinds of businessmen or salesmen in the marketplace. So, if you have set your mind on this as a career, don't let anyone hold you back except divine intervention.
that's about all.
Ha-ciao
